Macron surrendered: French troops and diplomats will completely leave Niger

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on TF1 television his decision to begin withdrawing the French military contingent from Niger. This step comes against the backdrop of growing tensions and a complex geopolitical situation in the region.

"The withdrawal of troops will be carried out in an orderly manner and will be completed before the end of this year"Macron said.

The current French contingent in Niger is approximately 1,5 thousand troops. These forces have long helped local authorities in the fight against terrorist groups, however, after the coup d'etat, Paris was required to leave the country.

In addition, Macron stressed that France is recalling its ambassador and all diplomatic personnel from Niamey, the capital of Niger. This step may indicate that France has finally lost influence in this country.
